Jacob Fowler was nearly impenetrable Sunday night, stopping 34 of 35 shots to lead the Canadiens to a 2–1 win over the Jets in the 2026 Heritage Classic.
In front of an estimated crowd of 30,000 at Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg, Fowler stole the show, turning aside shot after shot, including several high-danger chances.
The Canadiens gave their goaltender some support in the second period, scoring twice. At 7:19, Noah Dobson found Lane Hutson sneaking deep into the Winnipeg zone. Hutson redirected Dobson’s feed behind Jets goaltender Stuart Skinner to make it 1–0.
Kaiden Guhle doubled Montreal’s lead at 11:04, snapping a quick wrist shot from just inside the blue line that found its way past Skinner.
Winnipeg continued to press, but Fowler stonewalled the Jets time and again. With less than five minutes remaining in the third period, the Jets finally broke through when Isak Rosén scored his first goal of the year on a one-timer from deep inside the circle. But there would be no comeback: Fowler shut the door the rest of the way, securing the 2–1 win.
