Bruins win Game Seven 2-1 in overtime

The Boston Bruins defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-1 in overtime to win their best-of-seven series.

Prior to the game, it was announced that Joseph Woll would not start the game due to an injury. Ilya Samsonov would make his fifth start of the series.

Auston Matthews returned to the lineup after missing games five and six.

In the first period, it was a tight game, as both goalies were making crucial saves, keeping it 0-0 at the end of the first period.

The play from the first period carried over to the second period as both teams got good looks, but nothing came to be as the score stayed 0-0.

William Nylander broke the game open in the third period, making it 1-0 for the Leafs off a pass from Auston Matthews.

Moments later, the Leafs had a chance to make it 2-0, but Jeremy Swayman stopped Joel Edmundson.

The Bruins would put on pressure, and Hampus Lindholm’s shot went past Ilya Samsonov to make it 1-1.

The game would head into overtime, and at 1:54 seconds in overtime, Hampus Lindholm shot the puck into the corner. David Pastrnak skated behind the Leafs’ defence to pick up the puck and slide it behind Ilya Samsonov to win the game 2-1 and move on to play the Florida Panthers in round two of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

With this loss and going into the off-season, the question remains: what changes will the Maple Leafs make?
