Halifax Wanderers 4, Inter Toronto 1
Inter Toronto’s playoff push suffered another setback Sunday as the Halifax Wanderers defeated Inter Toronto 4–1 at Wanderers Grounds in Canadian Premier League action.
The result marked Halifax’s second straight victory and left Inter Toronto with more ground to make up in the playoff race.
Early lead, quick turnaround
Inter Toronto struck first in the third minute.
Raúl López finished a move created by Luca Accettola, giving the visitors a dream start.
Halifax responded quickly, however.
Isaiah Johnston equalized in the ninth minute after a pass from Lorenzo Callegari, and Callegari then put the Wanderers ahead in the 24th minute, with Ryan Telfer providing the assist.
Johnston struck again in the 34th minute from the penalty spot, sending Halifax into halftime with a 3–1 advantage.
Second-half finish
Inter Toronto had plenty of possession and finished the match with roughly 60% of the ball, but Halifax was more efficient in the decisive areas.
Inter recorded 24 shots, though only six were on target.
The Wanderers added their fourth goal in the 73rd minute, when Jason Bahamboula found the net to complete the scoring.

Turning point
The key moment came after Inter Toronto’s early goal.
Halifax answered within six minutes, and once the Wanderers took the lead through Callegari, Inter was forced to chase the match.
Johnston’s second goal before halftime made the deficit particularly difficult to overcome.
What’s next
The defeat leaves Inter Toronto needing a strong finish to its remaining schedule.
Halifax, meanwhile, moved closer to the teams above it after winning consecutive CPL matches for the first time this season.
