Swiatek rolls into semifinals
Iga Swiatek delivered one of her best performances of the tournament, defeating Diana Shnaider 6–2, 6–1. Swiatek never faced a break point and controlled the match from start to finish. It is her first WTA 1000 semifinal of the season.
Svitolina reaches another semifinal
Elina Svitolina rallied after losing the opening set to Ekaterina Alexandrova, winning 3–6, 6–0, 6–3. The victory is Svitolina’s 10th consecutive win and sets up a semifinal against Swiatek.
Fernandez falls to Osaka
Canadian Leylah Fernandez was eliminated in the round of 16 by Naomi Osaka, 6–4, 6–4. Fernandez’s exit leaves Canada without a singles player in the final stages of the Toronto event.
Tuesday’s quarterfinal spotlight
The other side of the draw features Coco Gauff vs. Belinda Bencic, followed by Elena Rybakina vs. Naomi Osaka on Centre Court.
What to watch
The Swiatek–Svitolina semifinal is particularly intriguing. Swiatek arrives with tremendous momentum after dismantling Shnaider, while Svitolina brings experience and confidence from her current 10-match winning streak. Their previous meeting in the Rome semifinals went Svitolina’s way, adding another storyline to their Toronto clash.
