The Toronto Raptors off-season is up and running. After selecting Ja’Kobe Walter with the 19th pick in the draft, the Raptors have acquired Sacramento Kings duo Davion Mitchell and Sasha Vezenkov. In return, they’ll be sending Jalen McDaniels the other way. Along with the duo, the Kings will also be sending over the 45th pick in the 2024 draft.
Mitchell was the ninth overall pick in the 2021 draft. As a rookie, he put up an impressive 11.5 points per game. Since then, he’s struggled to recover that form, playing a career low 15.3 minutes per game last season. With this move, Mitchell will hopefully get more playing time coming off the bench for the Raptors.
Vezenkov is coming off his rookie season, and at 28, the Raps hope he can provide some shooting depth, as he scored five points per game on 37 percent shooting from three.
The Raptors now turn their attention to day two of the NBA draft, which takes place today at 4 p.m.
