The Toronto Argonauts dropped a 30-21 decision to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday night at Princess Auto Stadium, falling to 2-3 on the 2026 CFL season.
Former Blue Bombers quarterback Dru Brown made his first start in Winnipeg since joining Toronto but was outdueled by his former club. Winnipeg built an early lead behind an efficient offensive performance and strong special teams, forcing the Argonauts to play catch-up for much of the night.
Toronto’s offense showed flashes, with quarterback Chad Kelly throwing for three touchdown passes to keep the Argonauts within striking distance. However, the Blue Bombers’ defense made key stops in the second half, while Winnipeg capitalized on a missed field goal with a spectacular return touchdown that proved to be one of the game’s biggest turning points.
Despite piling up offensive yards late in the contest, the Argonauts were unable to erase the deficit as Winnipeg controlled the clock in the closing minutes to secure the victory. The loss marks Toronto’s second straight defeat after last week’s setback in Calgary.
The Argonauts will look to regroup next week when they travel to face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, hoping to get back into the win column before returning home later this season.
