Blue Jays 2026 Playoff Push

The Toronto Blue Jays dropped their sixth straight game on Sunday, falling 3-2 to the Texas Rangers at Rogers Centre. The loss completed a four-game sweep for Texas and capped off a frustrating homestand for Toronto.

Shane Bieber turned in a gritty outing after surrendering a leadoff home run to Joc Pederson on the first pitch of the game. He settled down to keep the Blue Jays within striking distance, but the Rangers added another run in the sixth inning.

Toronto finally broke through in the eighth inning. George Springer delivered an RBI single before Nathan Lukes crushed a game-tying solo home run to make it 2-2 and energize the Rogers Centre crowd.

The tie was short-lived. In the ninth inning, Jarred Kelenic came around to score on a wild pitch, giving Texas a 3-2 lead. The Blue Jays were unable to answer in the bottom of the inning as the Rangers closed out the victory.

Toronto now heads into a new series against the New York Mets looking to snap its six-game losing streak and regain momentum before the midpoint of the season.
