Season finale against the Montreal Alouettes

The Toronto Argonauts closed out their regular-season schedule against the Montreal Alouettes on Friday night, with both Eastern Division rivals looking to finish the 2026 campaign on a positive note.

Toronto entered the matchup coming off a heartbreaking 40–39 loss to the Ottawa REDBLACKS on October 16.

The Argonauts surrendered the winning touchdown with just six seconds remaining after taking a 39–33 lead late in the fourth quarter.

Montreal defeated Toronto 33–16

The result handed the Argonauts another difficult finish to the regular season after their narrow defeat in Ottawa the previous week.

Toronto needed a strong performance from its offence and a disciplined defensive effort against a Montreal team that entered the contest with a 13–4 record.

The Alouettes had already beaten the Argos 37–30 in their first meeting of the season.

Montreal’s offensive pressure:

The Alouettes entered the game averaging 34.8 points per contest, ranking among the CFL’s top scoring teams.

Quarterback situation: Toronto prepared for the possibility of using Tucker Horn after Chad Kelly’s injury in the Ottawa game.

A challenging finish: Toronto was unable to turn its regular-season finale into a winning result.

Final verdict

The 33–16 defeat left Toronto looking toward the postseason with questions to address on offence and a need for greater consistency.

Montreal entered the final week as one of the CFL’s leading teams and reinforced its position with the victory.
