The Toronto Raptors will honour franchise legend Kyle Lowry by retiring his No. 7 jersey during the 2026-27 NBA season.
Lowry’s jersey retirement ceremony is scheduled for January 10 at Scotiabank Arena following the Raptors’ game against the Philadelphia 76ers. The historic event will see Lowry become just the second player in franchise history to have his number raised to the rafters, joining Vince Carter and his retired No. 15 jersey.
The honour recognizes Lowry’s extraordinary nine-year run with the Raptors, during which he helped transform the organization into a perennial contender. A six-time NBA All-Star in Toronto, Lowry led the franchise through its most successful era and played a central role in the Raptors winning their first NBA championship in 2019.
Known for his toughness, leadership and competitive spirit, Lowry became one of the most accomplished players in Raptors history. He remains the franchise leader in several major statistical categories, including assists, steals and three-pointers, while his impact on the team extended far beyond the numbers.
Lowry officially retired as a Toronto Raptor on July 7, 2026, signing a ceremonial one-day contract with the organization to conclude his 20-year NBA career. The 40-year-old also played for the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets, Miami Heat and Philadelphia 76ers during his career.
The Raptors are planning several special events surrounding the jersey retirement, giving fans multiple opportunities to celebrate the player widely known as the Greatest Raptor of All Time — the GROAT.
On January 10, Toronto will celebrate a player whose No. 7 jersey became synonymous with the most successful chapter in franchise history.
