8 Division Titles in a row

Chiefs outlast the Bengals

For yet another week the Kansas City Chiefs played sloppy Football with a fumble in the at their own 24 yard line setting up an easy Bengals TD and multiple dropped passes by the Wide Receivers ending drives that were in position to end the game early. This week though the offense did enough to get the Chiefs to a 25-17 win over the visiting Cincinnati Bengals. In winning the game they are now the AFC West Division Winner for the 8th straight time. This ties the Chiefs for the most consecutive Division Championships in history.

While they are in the playoffs for another year this isn’t the same Chiefs team that we’ve seen the last few years as they again started slowly allowing the Bengals to drive for a Touchdown, a Field Goal and the Turnover assisted Touchdown behind backup QB Jake Browning, who played like a Pro-Bowler in the first half. The start shows the other trend that has been developing for the Chiefs, a bad first half defense. However, the second half defense was terrific again as Harrison Butker scored the last 18 points of the game behind 6 Field Goals for the Chiefs.

Now with the Playoff spot locked in, the team can decide what to do in Week 18 against the LA Chargers coming in with another backup QB Easton Stick and an interim Head Coach. Continue to try and clean up the sloppy play on offense and bad Wide Receiver play by everyone not named Rashee Rice or Justin Watson, or rest the starters work on schemes to get Rice the ball more, let Kelce get the rest he needs and go with Blaine Gabbert and the backups to get ready for the real season?

My money is on Gabbert and the backups playing into the Playoffs and getting everything ready for a true must win game as this very unusual season rolls on.
