Coco Gauff captured the 2026 Cincinnati Open women’s singles title on Sunday, defeating fellow American Jessica Pegula 6-2, 6-4 in the final.
Gauff produced an impressive performance in the all-American championship match, taking control early and racing to a commanding lead in the opening set. Pegula battled back in the second set, but Gauff maintained her composure and secured the decisive break before serving out the victory.
The title was Gauff’s second Cincinnati Open championship and her first tournament title of the 2026 season. It also marked the 12th singles title of her career and provided a major boost heading into the US Open.
The final was a historic occasion for the tournament, as Gauff and Pegula contested the first all-American women’s Cincinnati Open final in 56 years.
Gauff reached the final after defeating Czech surprise semifinalist Sara Bejlek 6-4, 6-1. Pegula earned her place in the championship match by ending defending champion Iga Swiatek’s run with a hard-fought 7-5, 4-6, 6-4 semifinal victory.
The tournament also featured a major upset when Sara Bejlek eliminated world No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the round of 16. Bejlek defeated Sabalenka 7-6(7), 6-4 to produce one of the biggest surprises of the event.
