Blue Jays 4, Mariners 3
The Toronto Blue Jays rallied from a three-run deficit to defeat the Seattle Mariners 4-3 on Saturday afternoon at Rogers Centre, earning their second straight victory in the three-game series.
Seattle jumped ahead 3-0, with Cal Raleigh hitting a solo home run and Taylor Ward delivering a two-run single. Toronto, however, began its comeback in the fifth inning and pulled even before taking the lead in the sixth.
Alejandro Kirk delivered the decisive blow, lining a two-out RBI single to bring home the go-ahead run. Myles Straw also made key contributions as the Blue Jays completed the comeback.
José Soriano earned the victory after pitching seven innings, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out six. The Toronto bullpen protected the slim lead, with Louis Varland recording his 31st save of the season. A crucial defensive play in the ninth involving Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Varland helped secure the win.
The victory came on an emotional day at Rogers Centre, where former Blue Jays player, manager and broadcaster Buck Martinez was honoured with his induction into the club’s Hall of Excellence.
