Copa America 2024 Quarter Finals- Columbia vs Panama and Uruguay vs Brazil

The Copa America 2024 tournament quarter-finals have concluded, featuring a thrilling win for Colombia and a disappointing exit for Brazil.

Colombia comfortably advanced to the semi-finals of the competition, scoring 5 goals against Panama. Despite Panama having more shots, with 3 on target, Colombia ensured all their shots on target found the net. The scoring started in the 8th minute with Cordoba scoring from a set-piece. Colombia then received a penalty in the 13th minute, converted by James Rodriguez for their second goal. In the 41st minute, Luis Diaz made it 3-0 with a wonderful chip. The fourth goal came in the 70th minute from Richard Rios with a thunderous shot from outside the box. In stoppage time, another penalty was awarded to Colombia, which M. Borja converted to seal a 5-0 victory and advance Colombia to the semi-finals.

Uruguay vs Brazil was a highly anticipated match that failed to produce many notable moments. Throughout the game, Uruguay managed just one shot on target compared to Brazil’s three. Despite Brazil having more possession, they were unable to score, and the match ended 0-0, leading directly to a penalty shootout. Brazil, falling short of their reputation, missed crucial penalties while Uruguay’s keeper S. Rochet made important saves, securing Uruguay’s place in the semi-finals of Copa America 2024.

The semi-final matchups are now set: Argentina will face Canada, and Colombia will take on Uruguay.
