Game Preview: Maple Leafs back on the road against the New Jersey Devils

The Toronto Maple Leafs (45-23-9) are on the road tonight vs. The New Jersey Devils (37-36-5).

The Maple Leafs are coming off a 3-2 overtime win last night against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Auston Matthews, who is currently on an impressive 11-game point streak, has a history of playing exceptionally well against the New Jersey Devils. In his 14 career games against them, he has scored an impressive 14 goals and provided nine assists, a record that could play a significant role in tonight’s game on his chase to score 70 goals.

Toronto is 7-3-0 in their last 10 games.

With a victory in tonight’s game, the Toronto Maple Leafs will be able to close the gap to just one point behind the Florida Panthers, a significant move that could potentially secure them home-ice advantage in the playoffs.

This matchup is the second meeting of the season between the two teams. Jake Allen made 45 saves in a 6-3 Devils win.

Devils captain Nico Hischier has 26 goals and 37 assists this season.

Jake Allen is the expected starting goalie for the New Jersey Devils. Since being traded to New Jersey in 10 games played, Allen is 5-4-1 with a save percentage of .913 and a GAA of 2.73
