The Toronto Maple Leafs acquired defenceman Ilya Lyubushkin and the rights to unsigned draft choice Kirill Slepets from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for a third-round pick.

The Ducks will retain 50 percent of his salary.

To make the deal work, the Carolina Hurricanes are the third team involved. They will receive a sixth-round pick and retain 25 percent salary.

Lyubushkin played 31 games and seven playoff games for the Maple Leafs in the 2022 season.
