Steelheads trade Ryerson Leenders to Brantford

The Brampton Steelheads completed a trade with the Brantford Bulldogs, trading away goaltender Ryerson Leenders in exchange for eight draft picks. The picks include two second-round picks in 2025 (BAR/WSR), a second-round pick in 2026, a third-round pick in 2025 (OTT), a third-round pick in 2026 (OTT), a third-round pick in 2027 (SAG), a fourth-round pick in 2025, and a fifth-round pick in 2027.

Leenders was drafted by the Steelheads in 2022, 32nd overall in the second round of the OHL Priority Selection.

Last season, Leenders played in 46 games with a record of 24-17-4. He had a .909 save percentage and a 3.12 GAA. Leenders led all OHL goalies in save percentage last season and was fourth in shutouts with three.

At the NHL Draft this June, the Buffalo Sabres selected Leenders in the seventh round, 219th overall.
