BASEBALL
Aaron Judge is on a roll. The Yankees six-time MLB All-Star hit his 50th and 51st home runs of the season. He’s the fifth player to ever hit 50 or more home runs in three different seasons. Babe Ruth, Sammy Sosa, Alex Rodriguez, and Mark McGwire are the other four.
Speaking of Babe Ruth, the jersey he wore when he “called the shot” sold at auction for $24 million.
Catcher Danny Jansen made history by becoming the first player to appear in the same game for two different teams. Here’s how it happened: On June 26th while Jansen was at bat for the Blue Jays, the game was suspended until August 26 due to the weather. During the time from June to August, Jansen was traded from the Blue Jays to the Boston Red Sox, so on the 26th, he started with one team and finished with the other.
FOOTBALL
The first major upset of the college football season occurred in Ireland when #19 Florida State lost to Georgia Tech by a field goal as time expired.
In the NFL, Dallas Cowboys receiver CeeDee Lamb ended his holdout and signed a four-year $138 million contract extension (and a record $36 million signing bonus).
