As Chris Johnston of TSN reported, the Toronto Maple Leafs have signed Max Pacioretty and Steven Lorentz to NHL contracts.

The 35-year-old veteran Pacioretty signed a PTO (professional tryout) with the Maple Leafs on September 11. His contract with the team is a one-year deal worth $873K, with an additional $626,230 in performance bonuses based on games played. Pacioretty had a strong preseason with the Maple Leafs, recording five points (two goals and three assists) in four games. Last season, he registered 23 points in 47 games with the Washington Capitals.

Lorentz has signed a one-year deal with Toronto worth $775K. He joined the team on a PTO before training camp. Last season, Lorentz won a Stanley Cup with the Florida Panthers.

In addition, Toronto re-signed defenseman Cade Webber to a two-year contract. His deal will become a one-way contract in 2026-27.

The Maple Leafs will need to make a move to become cap-compliant by Monday’s 5 P.M. deadline, as they are currently over the $88 million salary cap limit.
