The Toronto Maple Leafs have signed forward Max Pacioretty to a professional tryout, the team announced on Wednesday.
Allan Walsh, Pacioretty’s agent, says he expects the 35-year-old veteran to sign a contract with the Leafs before the season starts.
Pacioretty has been dealing with injuries for the past couple of seasons. In 2024, he recorded 23 points—four goals and 19 assists—in 47 games with the Washington Capitals.
Before joining the Maple Leafs, Pacioretty played for the Washington Capitals, Carolina Hurricanes, Vegas Golden Knights, and Montreal Canadiens, where he captained the team for three seasons.
Pacioretty is expected to bring secondary scoring to the Leafs. He is a former five-time 30-goal scorer with the Montreal Canadiens and reached the milestone once with the Vegas Golden Knights.
Adding Pacioretty boosts the Maple Leafs’ left-wing depth chart, which includes players such as Matthew Knies, Bobby McMann, Nick Robertson, Connor Dewar, Pontus Holmberg, and Steven Lorentz.
