On a perfect night for Baseball in Kansas City the Toronto Blue Jays and the Kansas City Royals faced off in the series deciding game between surprisingly even teams to start the season. The Blue Jays were expected to contend while the Royals already have more wins this year than they had by mid May last year.
Speed and Pitching put the Royals up 2-0 behind a Bobby Witt Jr walk and steal which let Salvador Perez drive him home and a Kyle Isbel Double that set up the 2nd run. While on the mound fifth starter Alec Marsh continued to excel with shut out ball until he was forced out when taking a hopping line drive off his forearm from Addison Berger. Marsh has been dominant so far for the Royals and the Jays climbed back with a Homer off of reliever Angel Zerpa by George Springer.
Both teams squandered opportunities to open the game up in the 6th inning as a single by Witt Jr drove in the Royals third run only to fail to convert on 2 and 3 with no outs and bases loaded with one out. The Jays opened the 6th by only getting one in their half of the inning with Daulton Varsho scoring on a fielder’s choice.
A trade off scoreless innings set up the ninth and young Royals Closer James McArthur coming off of a 2 inning save in last night’s Royals win to end the night and go up in the series 2-1 with the get away game tomorrow at 12 noon EST.
