Raptors Fall To Celtics

Raptors Fall To Celtics 115 To 101 As Playoff Race Tightens

The Toronto Raptors came up short earlier today in Boston, falling 115 to 101 against the Celtics at TD Garden on April 5, 2026.

Toronto battled hard for much of the afternoon and even showed flashes of strong offensive momentum during the middle of the game. Boston ultimately pulled away late in the fourth quarter with a strong push that created separation on the scoreboard.

The Celtics were led by Jaylen Brown, who finished with a game high 26 points and consistently attacked the Raptors defense throughout the night. Jayson Tatum delivered another complete performance with 23 points along with 13 rebounds and 7 assists, controlling several key stretches of the game.

Boston also received valuable contributions from Neemias Queta, who scored 18 points and added strong interior play, while Payton Pritchard chipped in 17 points and Derrick White added 10.

Toronto had several players contributing offensively even in the loss. Rookie Ja’Kobe Walter led the Raptors with 16 points and provided some energy on the offensive end. Brandon Ingram added 15 points while continuing to show his scoring ability in key moments. RJ Barrett also finished with 15 points as the Raptors tried to keep pace with one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

The game remained competitive for much of the night. Toronto actually tied the score late in the third quarter before Boston found another gear heading into the final period. The Celtics created their largest lead of the game in the closing minutes and controlled the paint advantage which helped seal the victory.

Where The Raptors Stand In The East

With the loss the Raptors now sit at 43 wins and 35 losses as the regular season enters its final stretch.

The Raptors remain firmly in the Eastern Conference playoff race though the standings are extremely tight in the middle of the conference.

Toronto is currently fighting to stay within the Top 6 playoff seeds, which would allow them to avoid the Play In tournament.

First place in the East is realistically out of reach at this point. Teams at the top of the conference built a strong lead earlier in the season and there are only a handful of games remaining.

For Toronto to somehow reach the top spot they would need an extended winning streak combined with multiple losses from several teams ahead of them. That scenario is highly unlikely.

The more realistic goal for the Raptors right now is finishing strong and securing the best playoff seed possible while avoiding the Play In.

Important Takeaways As The Playoffs Approach

Even with the loss there are still some positive signs for Raptors fans.

The roster continues to show scoring depth with multiple players capable of contributing on any given night. Performances from Brandon Ingram, RJ Barrett, and Ja’Kobe Walter highlight the offensive options available when the team finds rhythm.

Another ongoing storyline continues to be lineup combinations. Toronto has several versatile players who can move between positions which creates exciting possibilities when the right mix is on the floor.

Health will also play a major role during the final stretch of the season. The Raptors need their key players available and playing at their best if they hope to build momentum before the postseason begins.

Games against elite teams like Boston are also useful measuring sticks. The Celtics remain one of the strongest teams in the conference and this matchup showed the level Toronto must reach if they want to compete deep into the playoffs.

Final Thoughts

Losses against top teams are frustrating, especially this close to the postseason. At the same time, the Raptors remain very much alive in the playoff race and still control their own destiny when it comes to securing a strong seed.

The final games of the regular season will determine whether Toronto can climb slightly in the standings or whether they will need to fight through the Play In tournament.

Fans will be hoping this group finds consistency at exactly the right time.
