The Toronto Blue Jays opened their three-game series against the San Francisco Giants with a difficult 10-1 loss at Oracle Park.
The Giants took control early and put the game away with a five-run sixth inning. Heliot Ramos was the star of the night, finishing 3-for-5 with two home runs, a triple, five RBIs and three runs scored. Victor Bericoto also contributed two RBIs as San Francisco capitalized on Toronto’s defensive mistakes.
Kevin Gausman struck out eight batters but was charged with the loss, allowing seven runs, four earned, over 5⅓ innings. Three Blue Jays errors proved costly, helping the Giants extend several innings and build an insurmountable lead.
Toronto’s offense struggled throughout the evening, managing just three hits against Giants starter Landen Roupp, who delivered the best outing of his career by pitching eight innings while allowing only one run and striking out five. The Blue Jays’ lone run came in the sixth inning on Kazuma Okamoto’s 20th home run of the season, making him just the second rookie in Major League Baseball to reach the 20-homer mark in 2026.
The loss dropped the Blue Jays to 42-49 on the season as they looked to regroup in Game 2 of the series. Toronto will need a stronger offensive performance after being held to just three hits and continuing a stretch of inconsistent play on its West Coast road trip.
