Leylah Fernandez eliminated
Canada’s Leylah Fernandez was knocked out in the round of 16 by Japan’s Naomi Osaka, who won 6–4, 6–4. Osaka advances to the quarterfinals, while Fernandez’s Toronto run comes to an end.
Sabalenka stunned
World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka was eliminated by Ekaterina Alexandrova in a dramatic three-set battle, 7–6(3), 4–6, 6–4. Alexandrova saved match points late before sealing one of the tournament’s biggest upsets.
Swiatek advances
Iga Swiatek survived a difficult fourth-round match against Marta Kostyuk, rallying to win in three sets. She now moves into the quarterfinals.
