The Toronto Tempo continued their difficult inaugural WNBA season with a road game against the Seattle Storm on August 26.

Toronto entered the matchup at 11-26, coming off an 88-78 loss to the Las Vegas Aces. The Tempo had been dealing with a difficult stretch of injuries, including season-ending setbacks for key contributors Brittney Sykes and Aneesah Morrow.

The game against Seattle was an important opportunity for the Tempo to regain momentum against a Storm team that had also struggled throughout the season. Toronto’s recent form included a much-needed 82-79 victory over the Portland Fire on August 21, ending a 12-game losing streak.

Toronto has shown flashes of strong offensive potential throughout its first season, but injuries and inconsistency have made it difficult for the expansion club to sustain success. Marina Mabrey, Kiki Rice and Kia Nurse have been among the players expected to carry a greater workload during the final stretch.

With the regular season winding down, the Tempo’s focus is on finishing competitively, developing its young core and building momentum for the future. Despite the disappointing record, the club’s inaugural season has provided an important foundation for the continued growth of professional women’s basketball in Toronto.
