The Brampton Steelheads acquired goaltender Jacob Gibbons from the Erie Otters in exchange for a 2025 fourth-round pick (Windsor) and a sixth-round pick in 2028.
The Whitby, Ontario native was selected 38th overall in the second round of the 2022 draft by the Erie Otters.
Gibbons appeared in 20 games during the 2024 season, posting a 5-7-1 record with a .819 save percentage and a 5.11 GAA.
Josh Anselmo of Inside The Rink believes Gibbons has “untapped potential.”
After trading Leenders to Brantford the #Steelheads acquire G Jacob Gibbons from #Erie. I like the move here for Brampton who get a goaltender that I feel has untapped potential. Good reflexes which blends well with his size, was impressed with his performance in his U16 OHL Cup. https://t.co/TylDv3Awdr

With Gibbons’ acquisition, Jack Ivankovic is now the Steelheads’ number-one goaltender.
