The Toronto Tempo battled the Indiana Fever on Tuesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse but fell 113-91 in a challenging road matchup against one of the WNBA’s hottest teams. The loss dropped Toronto to 7-7 on the season, while Indiana extended its winning streak to four games.
Toronto entered the game looking to bounce back after a loss to the Atlanta Dream and faced a difficult task against a Fever squad led by Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, and Aliyah Boston. The Tempo were once again without key contributors Kiki Rice and Nyara Sabally due to injury, forcing the club to rely on its depth against Indiana’s high-powered offense.
The game was competitive through the first half, with Toronto staying within striking distance thanks to strong offensive contributions from its veteran backcourt. Marina Mabrey continued to be a focal point of the Tempo attack, while Brittney Sykes provided her usual energy on both ends of the floor. However, Indiana’s pace and ball movement eventually wore down the Tempo defense.
The turning point came in the second half when the Fever began to pull away offensively. Indiana’s attack generated quality looks throughout the night, and Toronto struggled to contain the Fever inside and on the perimeter. The absence of size in the frontcourt continued to be a challenge as Indiana capitalized in the paint and on the glass.
Despite the setback, Toronto showed resilience and continued to compete against one of the Eastern Conference contenders. The Tempo will now look to regroup and end their three-game losing streak as they continue their road trip.
Toronto returns to action on June 19 when they visit the Connecticut Sun, aiming to get back into the win column and build momentum heading into the next phase of the season
