The Toronto Argonauts defended their home field on Saturday night, defeating the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in a hard-fought Battle of Ontario at BMO Field.
The game did not begin as scheduled after severe weather and lightning in the Toronto area forced a delay of more than an hour. Once play finally got underway, however, the Argonauts were able to weather both the conditions and their East Division rivals.
Toronto delivered a resilient performance against Hamilton, making key plays when it mattered most and holding off the Tiger-Cats down the stretch. The victory was especially important in the tightly contested CFL East Division race.
The atmosphere at BMO Field was also a memorable one, with the Argonauts honouring former stars Kevin Eiben and Carl Brazley as part of the club’s all-time team celebrations.
For Toronto, the result provided a major boost as the Argonauts continued their push toward the postseason. Hamilton, meanwhile, left Toronto frustrated after coming up short in another intense chapter of the longstanding rivalry.
The Argonauts will now look to carry the momentum from the victory into the final stretch of the 2026 CFL season.
Toronto’s win came after the start was delayed by lightning, with kickoff eventually taking place at 8:07 p.m. ET. The CFL’s official game coverage described the result as Toronto holding off Hamilton at home.
