The Toronto Maple Leafs were among the NHL’s busiest teams on the opening day of free agency, making several significant additions as the club continued to reshape its roster for the 2026-27 season.

The biggest move came in goal, as the Maple Leafs signed two-time Vezina Trophy winner Sergei Bobrovsky to a three-year contract. The veteran netminder brings championship experience to Toronto after helping the Florida Panthers win multiple Stanley Cups and is expected to share the crease with Anthony Stolarz.

Toronto also strengthened its forward group by signing Colton Sissons, Teddy Blueger, Brandon Duhaime, and Zack MacEwen, adding depth, penalty-killing ability, and physicality throughout the lineup.

In addition to its free-agent signings, the Maple Leafs acquired Nick Paul from the Tampa Bay Lightning in a trade, sending goaltender Dennis Hildeby along with future draft picks to Tampa Bay. Paul gives Toronto a versatile two-way forward capable of playing in all situations.

The organization made it clear that improving its defensive structure, goaltending, and bottom-six depth was a priority. General manager John Chayka and the front office opted for experienced, reliable veterans while maintaining financial flexibility for the future.

With a revamped roster and several key additions, the Maple Leafs enter the 2026-27 season with expectations of making a deeper Stanley Cup playoff run.
